Exchange programmes don’t just take you to new places — they bring you closer to people, perspectives, and possibilities.
From 27th May to 3rd June, nine senior school students from Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram, embarked on a transformative student exchange programme to Japan, organised by Shin Edupower in collaboration with Shibaura Institute of Technology, Junior and Senior High School, Tokyo.
This experience offered far more than just travel—it opened a window into a new way of life. Through warm homestays with Japanese families, students gained an up-close perspective on everyday Japanese living and cultural traditions. Attending school with their Japanese buddies, they immersed themselves in local routines and fostered genuine connections, often through meaningful conversations that transcended language barriers.
The itinerary blended learning with exploration—students visited the Shibaura Institute of Technology and experienced Tokyo’s vibrant energy through Asakusa Temple, the bustling streets of Shibuya and Harajuku, and the serenity of Odaiba Seaside Park. A visit to the Miraikan Museum further ignited curiosity about the future of science and innovation.
The learners embraced Japanese social etiquette and confidently navigated the country’s seamless public transport system with maturity and respect. In Atami, field activities with their peers—including a tour of the historic Kiunkaku Villa, exploring geysers, visiting the beach, and witnessing the spellbinding Atami Marine Fireworks—strengthened bonds and created lasting memories.
A joyful day at Tokyo Disneyland, thoughtful message exchanges, participation certificates, and a thrilling bullet train ride back to Tokyo brought this journey of learning, cultural immersion, and new friendships to a meaningful close.
