Psychology in Practice: Empathy Meets Experience at Pallavanjali
In alignment with the school’s commitment to experiential education, the Psychology students of Grade XI undertook a meaningful Industry Connect Programme through a visit to Pallavanjali, an inclusive institute in Gurugram, on 23rd July 2025. Conceptualised under the visionary guidance of Director-Principal Ms Anita Malhotra, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and its real-world application.
The visit provided students with invaluable insights into the field of special education, deepening their understanding of working with children with diverse developmental and learning needs. Learners were sensitised to various types of disabilities and were introduced to key therapeutic practices such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Special Education, all observed in action.
Through thoughtful observation and guided interaction, students explored the nuanced educational and emotional requirements of children with special needs. The experience highlighted the pivotal role of differentiated instruction and the effectiveness of audio-visual tools in catering to individual learning preferences. Emphasis was placed on the importance of structured routines, which contribute significantly to the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children.
The programme not only broadened the students’ understanding of inclusive pedagogies and assistive technologies but also nurtured a profound sense of empathy and professional curiosity. This first-hand exposure served as a catalyst for reflective thought, encouraging learners to view Psychology through a more humane and practical lens.
