On 5th August 2025, the Grade XII Humanities learners of Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram, embarked on a remarkable educational journey to the Parliament of India, where they witnessed the living spirit of democracy.
The day began with an interactive and informative session by Shri P.K. Mallick, Director of PRIDE (Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies), functioning under the Lok Sabha Secretariat. His valuable insights into the functioning of Parliament and democratic governance set the tone for a day of immersive learning.
One of the highlights was the proud moment of sitting in the Visitor’s Gallery of the Lok Sabha, where students observed the grandeur and discipline of India's legislative space. The learners also got the rare opportunity to explore the New Parliament building and visit the historic Old Secretariat, deepening their understanding of India’s political and administrative evolution.
A moment of immense pride and emotion was standing in the very chamber where India’s independence was declared at midnight on 14th–15th August 1947. This experience brought history alive and instilled in learners a deep sense of national pride and gratitude.
It was a memorable day—not just in the life of every Lotus learner present, but also in their journey of becoming informed and responsible citizens. The visit was filled with learning, excitement, and awe, leaving a lasting impact on all.
