“A new school year means new beginnings, new adventures, new friendships, and new challenges. The slate is clean for new learnings.”
At the dawn of the new Academic Session, the gates of our alma mater, Lotus Valley International School, swung open for the learners of Grades IV to VIII on 3rd April 2024, ushering in a fresh wave of enthusiasm, as we embarked on yet another journey of learning and growth. It was a day filled with anticipation, excitement, and a palpable sense of new beginnings. As students arrived on campus, there was an inimitable buzz in the air – a tangible eagerness to embrace the opportunities that lay ahead.
The first day of the new academic session was marked by a flurry of action and bustling energy.
The classrooms were abuzz with activities meticulously planned by the teachers to engage and inspire their students. Learners of Grade 8 broadened their knowledge of world-famous rivers through the ‘River Odyssey’ activity, while Grade 7 learners delved deep into their aspirations through the ‘Birthday Bucket List’ activity.
The learners of Grade 6 enjoyed making embellished bookmarks and were excited to know that they could take them home to cherish and use. The ‘Figure Me Out and Find a Friend’ activity saw Grade 5 learners appreciating the similarities and differences between their peers. ‘Unfolding Me’ was a unique way for Grade 4 learners to forge new friendships as they provided insights into their unique personalities. From icebreaker games fostering camaraderie to thought-provoking discussions setting the tone for the semester, each activity was designed to ignite curiosity and encourage participation. Conversations echoed with discussions of the exciting topics and projects that lay ahead, igniting a sense of curiosity and wonder in the minds of students. The day culminated with a ‘Reflection Session’, in which learners penned their experience in their Lotus Promptuaries.
As students immersed themselves in the engaging activities planned by their teachers, they set the stage for a year filled with learning, and exploration. It meant the beginning of a new chapter in their educational journey, with the promise of new experiences, and a shared commitment to strive for personal and collective growth.
