Libraries are at the heart of Lotus Valley International School and the love of reading is nurtured in learners from an early age. The Primary and Senior Wings of the school have their own state-of-the-art libraries, which are large, airy, vibrant and welcoming spaces designed to meet the educational and recreational needs of learners. They house a large, hand-picked and age-appropriate collection of fiction and non-fiction books from Indian as well as foreign publishers. The dedicated librarians as well as a wide array of activities such as Authors’ Workshops, Read Aloud Sessions, Buddy Reading, Drop Everything & Read (D.E.A.E programme) and Book Fairs encourage learners to celebrate books.

The habit of reading is nurtured from childhood, which moulds and enriches the growing minds, shapes their nascent values and develops the right perspectives. Reading is timeless and is recognized as an art, capable of transforming an individual.

Books that capture the imagination of students, reconfirm their facts and open newer doors of intellect are carefully chosen and made available to the students. We have some avid readers here who have even become a part of the Book Club, that’s an offshoot of healthy reading.

Besides serving students in their studies and teachers in their research school, libraries aim at creating interest in reading amongst the students who get the best of resources and environment here.
Modern School has always laid great emphasis on inculcating the habit of reading in its students, right from the beginning. It has 2 Libraries, one for the Seniors (S-4 – S-7) and one for the Juniors (S-1 – S-3).

The DPSI Libraries have a collection of over 10,000 books which includes fiction and non-fiction of different genres, picture books, bilingual books, reference resources for students and teachers and professional development resources.
An array of activities, like Author Study, Novel Study, Shared Reading, Buddy Reading, Drop Everything And Read, Reading Tree Programme are conducted and special events like Author Visits, Book Weeks, Book Fairs and other literacy events are held to encourage students to celebrate and enjoy books. Students visit the library with their classes for lessons on developing their Information Literacy skills, locating and accessing information, organizing and presenting information and the ethical use of information. The Library continuously strives to keep its resources and services updated in the interest of the entire school community.
The library is an integral part of the student's learning process. Students are educated and trained to select age and learner's level appropriate books, e-resources, magazines and journals to aid their research and learning. The Library is the hallmark of collaborative learning and research cum investigative activities by using computer with fast Internet access for both, the teachers and the learners. The students are provided conducive environment and didactic as well as technical support to uphold all the attributes of learner profile of IB programme in their learning process.
